July Favourites

I know I’m pretty late on July favourites seeing as we’re nearly half way through August (how did that happen) but I’m going go ahead and write one anyway. July has been a pretty crazy month for me. I’ve been to two newspapers for work experience, finished as a finalist in a local blogging competition, been published, been on holiday to Zante, started as a fashion writer at Hit The Floor Magazine, and working away on this blog alongside. Things have been pretty none stop but it feels great to be making the most of my summer off uni before the stress sets in!

Urban Decay, Naked 2
// Can anybody believe how late I am to the Naked 2 palette? I’m one of those people who will do anything to save a fiver and had to wait for my holiday to get it on duty free. Boarding the plane I forgot to have any pre-flight nerves because all I could think about was getting my hands on this damn thing. It’s a huge upgrade from the Naked One but I still find myself using both palettes. You get such a versatile variety of shades between them and since buying them I haven’t bought an eyeshadow since. There is no occasion for which I can’t use my Naked palettes to get the perfect eyeshadow look – I have no idea what I did before them!

Origins Gin Zing Moisturiser //  Origins have been my skin saviour this month. It’ll probably come as a shock to the blogging world that I have never splashed out on expensive skincare. I’m incredibly lucky to be blessed with good skin which was obviously going to catch up with me at some point. Although I still have never had a ‘breakout’, my skin had been looking sunk and sallow. This is the best wake up call in the morning and over the past month I have noticed a huge difference in my skin. Read my full review of it here.

China Glaze ‘Grackle Glaze’ in Latticed Lilac // I got this on a whim and have fallen in love with it. It’s a lovely, lilacy-silver over coat which leaves a ‘crackle’ effect on the nails. I’ve worn it on its own a few times just because I love the colour so much!

Wella Enrich Hair Ends Elixir // I’ve been using Kiehl’s (review) hair products a lot this summer, but thought I would give this serum a mention too. Whenever I blow dry my hair I’m always in need to flatten down the frizz or just give it some life and this serum is perfect for that. It’s incredibly enriching for the hair and leaves it looking glossy and radiant.

MAC Powder Blush in Harmony // This is a great shade for contour and makes my cheek bones look so much more defined. It is quite difficult to blend and takes an incredibly long time to get the ‘muddy’ look blended in. I’m on the look out for some different contour products which are easier to use, so please comment if you have any suggestions!

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 16 // I’m a huge fan of Rimmel’s range of Kate Moss lipsticks. There is no drugstore lipstick which rivals these! This has been my most worn summer lipstick. I tend to stay away from pinks as they’re usually just not my style, but I’ve loved wearing the coraly pink shade this month.

What are your favourite products this month? Do you any recommended contour products?

Lydia Rose,

xoxo

PS Thanks to everyone who has followed this month! It’s so exciting to see my blog as 7th in Bloglovin’s up and coming beauty blogs.

I use the MAC Harmony blush too and I know exactly what you mean about the muddy look – perhaps it's just because I have such pale skin?! Really wanting to get my hands on the GinZing moisturiser though, the eye cream is an essential for me x

    • August 13, 2013 / 9:33 pm

It's so difficult, I think it is the pale skin factor! The GinZing is so good, would love to try the eye cream! xo

I'm really considering picking up the Naked 2! I'm a nota huge eyshadow person, but I'm looking to change that! hehe I believe the Naked 2 has got cooler tones than the original, would that be right to say? Anyway, from the pictures I've seen I'm much more attracted to the 2! I'm the exact opposite of you when it comes to skin and I feel like if I don't invest time, patience and MONEY in it, it goes havoc! haha You lucky girl, you! I'm now following your awesome blog, I can't believe I was before! xx
