The A/W Wardrobe Edit #1 | Texture, Colour and Pattern

L-R: Forever21 Houndstooth Skinny Jeans, Motel Rocks Baby Doll Sheer Mesh Dress, Topshop Snake Wrap Skirt, Primark Body Suit, Faux Fur Gilet via SecretSales, Thrifted Crochet Cardigan, Primark Fluffy Cardigan, River Island PU Skirt.

Lately I’ve made a lot of new additions to my wardrobe. I’ve sold old things or given them away to charity, allowing room for a new influx of clothes. Nearly everything is new; basics, staples, going out clothes, shoes… Let’s just say it was long overdue.  My style is constantly changing and developing. Some days I want to be sophisticated, others I’m dressing like a member of The Runaways but most of the time I just want to float around in a kimono listening to Stevie Nicks… Every day is just about playing dress up, right? Anyway, I always love having a peak at what’s on other people’s clothing rails, so I thought the best way to show you my new favourite pieces was to layer a few ‘edits’ out in different themes.  A/W for me is all about layering, mismatching patterns, and the finer details.

The Motel Rocks Baby Doll Sheer Mesh Dress is one of my absolute favourite pieces. It’s just so versatile, I usually wear it with a high necked crop and skirt underneath, or with a crop top tucked into a high waisted PVC skirt. My new favourite layering piece is the Faux Fur Gilet which was featured in my latest outfit post, I’ve never owned anything so snuggly and warm. On a London visit I went a little crazy for crochet in the East End Thrift Store. I bagged a ton of crochet pieces for literally pennies. The Crochet Cardigan is another favourite for layering; peeping out under a leather jacket or over even more layers of velvet and mesh. The Snake Wrap Skirt from Topshop, along with a few other items not featured here, have made me fall back in love with the store again. The skirt’s fabric has that heavy, expensive feeling that is rare in a high street item these days; the asymmetric cut is effortlessly stylish, and the snakeskin pattern looks amazing contrasted against anything you choose to wear.

I don’t know about you but I just can’t get enough of dog/houndstooth print right now. I want to buy it in everything! These Houndstooth Jeans from Forever21 are such a bargain, rolled up over ankle boots make them my everyday go to choice on lazy uni days.  I’m going to join in with the Blogger hype and say how awesome Primark is lately. I loved the Fluffy Cardigans so much that I actually bought two, in black and burgundy. I’m showing you the burgundy colour just to contrast against a sea of black. I love wearing this over a black dress with purpley-red lipstick. Another Primark favourite is my Fringed Bodysuit which I bought a few months back for £3! You can never have too much fringing. As for the River Island Pu Skirt, I grabbed it in a sale without trying it on for around £5. I wanted it to be my staple leather look skirt for A/W but the shape is just a little too awkward. I’m on the search for the Primark circle skirt but it’s not been in my local one!

What are your favourite pieces for texture, colour or pattern right now?

Lydia Rose,

xoxo

I love buying clothes for A/W, I've no idea why! The change in colours and patterns and generally just what I want to be dressed in is so different.
