There have been so many products that I have fallen in love with in 2013. The beauty blogging world has heightened my addiction to hair, make up and skincare products and my collections are ever expanding with new products. Today I’ve raided my make up drawers and narrowed down the main products that I’ve been loving. I was going to do this in one big post but it was too photo heavy so I have two more posts on skincare and haircare coming over the next few days.
Foundation | NARS Sheer Glow
This product has blown up on the blogosphere over the past few months and rightfully so. I’m so impressed with the professional finish that this foundation gives. The perfect midpoint between matte and glowy, it’s not dewy enough to cause oiliness but just enough to give a flawless and luminous glow. I always splash out on high end foundations and haven’t looked back since.
Lipsticks | Kate Moss Rimmel 107, MAC ‘So Chaud’, MAC ‘Rebel’
Did you really think I would be able to decide on just one lipstick? I’m definitely a red lipstick kind of girl but I’ve been rocking purple a lot this A/W. I can’t sing the praises of the Kate Moss for Rimmel lipsticks enough. 107 has been my go-to berry shade and the matte formula is so impressive for drug store. As for high end make up, MAC So Chaud was on my lips pretty much everyday during the summer. I love its vibrancy and as you might have guessed from these choices, matte is my preferred finish. MAC Rebel has been the source of beauty blogger hype this year and definitely lives up to expectations. It’s a more daring purple shade which I’ve been pulling out on nights out.
Contour & Highlight | MAC SF ‘Soft & Gentle’ and MAC ‘Harmony’
What was life without before my MAC SF? Every time my friends notice it in my handbag they have to imitate me saying “This is the best product I’ve ever bought in my life” #beautybloggerproblems. But really. I’m not one for blusher, maybe it will be something I experiment with more in the new year. A simple contour and highlight routine is more of my thing. Harmony is the perfect contouring shade, I only use a tiny bit to avoid the potential for muddiness on my light skin so it will probably last forever. I often wear MAC SF without highlight just to give more dimension to my face. If you sway towards more natural make up I would definitely recommend. I apply it on my cheekbones after contouring for a dramatic, night time look.
Eyeshadow | NAKED 2 and NARS ‘Kuala Lumpur’ (*)
My NAKED 2 was another duty free purchase that I picked up this summer on my way back from a girl’s holiday in Zante. I have literally used it every day since. You can get an unlimited amount of eyeshadow looks from this palette. My new NARS duo is a brand new addition to my make up collection but one which has encouraged me to experiment outside of my comfort zone. I won’t be purchasing the NAKED 3, much to my temptation, as I want to try new combinations of colours and I find that the palettes get a little repetitive.
Mascara | Benefit ‘They’re Real’
I picked this mascara on the way back from New York this time last year in duty free after reading so many positive reviews. I just feel that everyone looks a million types prettier with darker and extended lashes. I’ve never used a mascara which lengthens so thoroughly without clumpiness. The effect is dramatic and really does help to transform any eye-make up look. Definitely a favourite of this year.
What are your favourite products of 2013? Do you use any of these?
