L-R: Pinky Brown, Show Stopper 2, Blizzard, Mermaid Tears (Painted over Barry M Matte varnish in ‘Mocha’), Ibiza Mix
Those of you who read my recent Clothes Show Live blog post will know that I picked up an amazing goodie bag which included 6 Models Own shades. Now, I’ve never been a girl who cares about her nails. Rimmel’s Dry In 60 Seconds varnishes have been my saviour because, uh, they do actually dry in 60 seconds. Painting my nails is always a laborious source of stress, I get the stuff everywhere and no matter what I do my left hand always looks like it’s been painted by a 5 year old. And the right, for that matter.
But since purchasing these I have found a new love for doing my nails. They really can add something new to an outfit and I’ve loved sparkly, deep reds and purples over the festive season with lots of glitter. Naturally I gravitated towards two red shades, Sardoynx is from the Velvet Goth range which has a much more textured and glamorous finish than Pinky Brown which is more suited for day time wear. I then picked out two top coats, Blizzard and Ibiza Mix, both glitters which add the perfect sparkle over a base coat. My personal favourite is without a doubt Ibiza Mix, I love the combination of colours especially when painted over Pinky Brown. Show Stopper 2 was the exclusive Clothes Show varnish which came free in the goodie bag, again a pretty top coat especially when layered over a matte white varnish. The only shade I was disappointed by was Mermaid Tears which I had to paint over another varnish for it to show up on camera. It’s definitely an anti-climatic finish which is barely noticeable and lacks hugely compared to the over shades. Maybe I’m missing something and will find the right base coat? Suggestions welcome!
Overall I was really happy with the shades I picked out and can thank Models Own that I barely have grubby, chipped nails now! Which colours are your favourite? Are you a fan of Models Own?
