LONDON FASHION WEEK | DAY 3

Coat – Minkpink via Urban Outfitters | Dress – Zara | Bag – Betsey Johnson (thrifted) | Boots – Topshop

This has probably been my favourite outfit this week and one I’ve felt most comfortable in. As an intern I haven’t been able to dress exactly how I’d like… It’s more about being practical. A big fluffy coat and sheer dress are my style but easy to wear at the same time. I scored this Minkpink coat in the Urban Outfitters sale for £20. As you can tell it’s a M/L so at least two sizes to big for me but I think it adds to the charm… Maybe. Thank you to Lepa for taking the photos!

I can’t believe how quickly London Fashion Week has gone. It’s been a totally surreal experience. I don’t want to go back to real life and burying myself in uni work… If only we could work in fashion every day. It’s affirmed that I am determined to make this a reality. Just in these few days I have learnt so much and after being thrown in the deep end I feel so much more prepared for anymore journalism experience that comes my way. My writing skills have totally grown from the high pressure. I was half way through a collection review and the editor told me it had to be finished in ten minutes. Somehow I managed to turn around something I was mostly proud of and then there was only time for a coconut water before the next show.

I wrote 2 collection reviews today but the highlight was Little Shilpa’s interactive presentation. Presentations give a new experience to a collection and allow you to really get a feel for a designer’s aesthetic. Highlights were writing a hair trend feature on the FashionScout shows. Going backstage has given me new admiration for the hair and beauty teams behind fashion. It’s so important to a collection and can give it a totally new feel. Texture and the 60s have been huge. It reminds me when I used to backcomb my hair into a beehive, looked pretty awesome at the time but I’m still rescuing the condition now. Ouch. Tomorrow, well today by the time you’re reading this, is my last day and I’ll be heading home on the train straight after. I think it’s going to be way more relaxed and I’m hoping to head over to Somerset House and soak up the street style. Tonight I’ve finished earlier than usual so heading out with Ryan to the Westminster area… We’ve just gotta see the London eye, right?

Lydia Rose,

xoxo

So jealous, working in fashion would be such a dream. When you do what you love, I think you don't notice the pressure and hard work as much!
