A month or so I found myself asking my Twitter followers, “Do you guys mind when bloggers repeat outfits?” to which I quickly deleted said tweet, slammed down my macbook and had an internal pep-talk with myself. Let’s be real: we all know that blogging is a little bit contrived. But we turned to personal style blogs from magazines for a reason. That reason is because the girl in her bedroom on her laptop is a hell of a lot more interesting. Don’t get me wrong; my Elle and Vogue stash is big enough to stack up a Pinterestable bed side table. And I love glossy magazines, in all their unattainable, unrealisable glory. But I read personal style blogs because I love personal style. I’m not on enough money or juggling enough PR samples to post 2 completely different outfits a week. I wear pieces until they’re fraying, the soles have snapped or until it simply falls apart. I wear that necklace in pretty much every outfit post I do because I’ve worn it everyday since I got it for my birthday a year ago. If anything, knowing there is a photo op during the day does motivate me to put something together. But I’m reminding myself, and other bloggers, to ignore the pressure.  If you find seeing the same items popping up too repetitive, you’re the only one missing out. Because I challenge your wardrobe and all of its endless possibilities. Being able to mix and match different pieces and make them feel like a new outfit is personal style. It also saves you a hell of a lot of money. So start using your imagination. I’m an outfit repeater, guilty. as. charged.

What items in your wardrobe are you wearing to death? Are you guilty of being an outfit repeater?

Agree with this so much, I always worry about repeating but when I think about it, the reason I like personal style blogs is seeing items worn in different ways!x

Exactly, I think it's best when a blog can be helpful to its readers too and show you different ways to do things! x

I couldn't agree more. I see many bloggers never wearing the same item twice and I think who even does that? We're meant to be real girls not celebrities. I agree with you, I'm not on enough money to not be able to wear an item more than once. In fairness, I probably wear the same handful of clothes all the time!

Exactly.. I mean it's great if people can afford to do that but it's just not the case for many of us. When I love a piece I wear it to death! I think it's nice to keep that mid ground and not come across as too unrealistic to your readers xo

I definitely take inspiration from how people style things too! Thanks sweet 🙂 xo

Gorgeous outfits, I always re wear outfits I see people with a tonne of pr samples and new outfits and I am like WOW how can you keep up with this, I wear clothes until they break haha. This outfit looks gorgeous I really want a long waistcoat type coat xxx

    • August 13, 2014 / 10:45 am

The waistcoat is such a good staple piece, I love it! I know – PR samples are great but do get hard to keep up with! xx

Personally I love seeing people using the same pieces in creative ways, it's much more interesting than a constant stream of new clothes. Also, I love your Vivienne Westwood handbag.
In terms of pieces I'm wearing to death, I bought a maroon maxi dress from H&M at the beginning of the summer and have practically lived in it since, it's so versatile and I love finding new ways to wear it (and will probably do so until it falls apart) x

I'm glad you agree 🙂 & thanks so much!
Ooh that sounds so pretty! xo

I wear things down to the ground too! Whats the point in buying stuff to wear it only a handful of times!?
I absolutely love trying out the same item in lots of outfits. My readers are probably fed up of the amount of times they've seen the same boots and sandals and especially my Joni jeans. They make all my outfits look the same, but ha. I know I'm challenging my outfits everytime! I also can't link where to find them after a while they're so old 😛

This outfit is gorgeous though, I adore the sleeveless blazer! I need to get one like that 😀

exactly… no point if it gets put to the back of your wardrobe! glad you agree! the sleeveless blazer is definitely a great staple piece 🙂 xo

I agree! It's unrealistic to present a world where you can only where an item of clothing once. Having real style is about finding ways to make the clothes you have exciting – anybody could go out every day and buy whats new in topshop if they had the money. The only people who have anything to say on it are on stupid gossip forums and probably spend their lives in the same sweats judging everbody else. xxx love this post!

    • August 13, 2014 / 10:47 am

So glad you agree. Exactly – the people on those forums are just total losers anyway haha! xx

    Well said!
I love watching how different bloggers style one item of clothing in many different ways. It give me ideas even if I don't own that exact piece of clothing.
You look gorgeous in this outfit 🙂

    • August 13, 2014 / 10:50 am

Exactly – I just saw a girl wearing a similar jacket I've recently bought and now have lots of inspiration on how to style it. It's one of the best things about blogs! And thanks so much Minnie 🙂 x

I am definitely an outfit repeater! I have fair safe t-shirt that I'll happily throw on every week! 🙂
I love the skirt btw! xx

    • August 13, 2014 / 10:50 am

Haha! I'm like that with my white t-shirts and joni jeans! Thanks 🙂 xx

  9. August 10, 2014 / 8:54 pm

I completely agree with you! There is far to much pressure to constantly buy new clothes. I myself can't afford to buy new clothes all the time and have got depressed about my tiny wardrobe in the past. Now I just find ways to utilise what I already have and by doing so makes outfits feel like they're new! Great post x

    • August 13, 2014 / 10:51 am

It's easy to get depressed – sometimes I'll take an hour and just style lots of things different and go through them all then take photos to remind myself of how I can put things together haha.Definitely distracts you from online shopping!

You look sooo sooo super gorgeous xxx
