I admit that I was always a one shade of lipstick girl and never strayed from my signature red. Over the past year or so I’ve branched out to all sorts of different shades and colours and realised there is so much more fun to be had with lipstick than wearing the same shades everyday! So these are my top 5 favourites, something a little more fun, so get ready for stupid faces and messily applied lipstick..
MAC – So Chaud (Matte) // This has been one of my recent additions to my MAC collection. I was looking for an ‘every day’ red. Anyone who wears red lipstick daily will know what I mean when I say that you reach a point where the “bam” factor wears off. Whenever I wear red lipstick, it suddenly makes me feel 100% better and like I can take on the world. This lovely shade which meets between red and orange is the perfect mid ground. Bright, but not too bright; a colour I can wear every day and save bolder red lipsticks for night outs and special events where I want it to make a maximum impact. Read my full review on it here.
Rimmel – Kate Moss 107 (Matte) // I think it’s essential to have a plum red lipstick in your collection. This is an amazing matte formula for such a budget lipstick. For days I don’t feel bold enough to wear my bright purple ‘Rebel’ lipstick, I go for this. It’s much more wearable, but still a little bit of a change from wearing red everyday.
MAC – Rebel // Rebel is definitely going to be coming out of hiding from my lipstick collection this Autumn. ‘The Craft’ is always my inspiration when it gets to late September and this is the perfect witchy shade. It is a dark purple but not so dark that gives off the gimmicky, Halloween vibe I feel some of MAC’s other purple shades do. When I wear purple I want a classy shade, not something that reminds me of my pre-tween goth girl days. I can’t wait to wear this with oversized jumpers and big hair when the months get colder.
Rimmel- Kate Moss 17 // I’ve loved wearing a coral pink shade over summer. For blonde girls, it’s hard to wear pink without looking like a tacky Barbie doll. I love how natural this is and it looks gorgeous with my MAC soft & gentle skin finish for days when I don’t want to wear too much make up. This is a day-to-day shade I go for especially when I’m in Uni, it’s nice and dressed down but just adds a little pop of colour to your make up.
MAC- Nicki Minaj Viva La Glam 2 // This lipstick is definitely a hit and miss with people. Personally, I absolutely love how this looks with bright blonde hair and silvery eyeshadow. I’ve had a few comments that this would look better on someone with a tan, but I think pale girls can rock this shade too! The only thing I don’t like about it is how it looks with flash! I wore this on a night out in Zante and the photos made me look like a bit of a derp. In real life this is the most amazing lavender shade which pops, in photos, not so much.
What are your favourite lipsticks? I’m currently looking for the perfect nude shade, do you have any recommendations?
